No. MSP does not cover private therapy sessions with a Registered Psychologist or Registered Clinical Counsellor. Most clients use extended health benefits or a Health Spending Account through their workplace.

Does my insurance cover therapy? What should I ask my provider?

Many extended health insurance plans cover therapy, but coverage varies. Ask your insurer:

  • Does my plan cover sessions with Registered Psychologists and Registered Clinical Counsellors in BC?
  • Does it cover individual, couples, family, and online therapy?
  • How much coverage do I have per year?
  • Is coverage based on the calendar year or a rolling 12 months?
  • Do I need a doctor’s referral?
  • How do I submit claims?
Do you direct bill insurance companies?

No. We ask clients to pay at the time of the session, and we issue a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement. This applies whether you are attending in person at our Burnaby office or online across BC.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Visa Debit, and Mastercard Debit.

We do not accept personal cheques, cash, e-transfers, or Interac debit.

Can I use a Health Spending Account (HSA) for therapy?

Yes. Many employers in BC provide Health Spending Accounts that cover sessions with a Registered Psychologist or Registered Clinical Counsellor. We provide detailed receipts you can submit for reimbursement.
